Data Protection

1. Preamble

Nycomed Pty Ltd (Nycomed) knows how much importance you attach to the protection of your privacy. We take the task of protecting your personal data very seriously.

We collect and use personal data only to the extent permitted by relevant legal requirements, in particular the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and only if we have valid permission from the individual(s) concerned.

We process personal data collected during visits to our websites according to Australia's data protection laws. Nycomed websites may contain links to websites not subject to this Privacy Policy.

2. Acquisition of data

Each time you visit our website, our webservers automatically save the name of your browser and operating system, your Internet service provider, the website from which you access the Nycomed website, the websites you visit while with us, the date and the time you spend with us.

When you access our sites, our servers also save data for security purposes to allow us to identify you if it is necessary (e.g. IP address, date, time and pages you visit). We do not process personal data. We may evaluate anonymous data sets for statistical purposes.

The only other personal data we save is data you provide yourself, e.g. when registering with us, or when applying for a job.

3. Cookies

We use cookies to allow us to identify regular visitors. Cookies in and of themselves do not personally identify users, although they do identify a user's browser.

Most browsers are set to accept cookies automatically. However, you can turn off the ‘Save Cookies’ function or set your browser so that it informs you whenever cookies are transmitted.

4. Session IDs

We use session IDs. Session IDs allow us to accompany and identify visitors as they browse various websites. No personal data is collected or saved through the use of session IDs.

5. Collection and processing of personal data

Personal data means information or an opinion (including information or an opinion forming part of a database), whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an individual whose identity is apparent, or can reasonably be ascertained, from the information or opinion, i.e. information which can be used to find out your identity. This type of information includes e.g. your correct name, address, postal address and telephone number. Information which cannot be directly linked to your true identity (e.g. favourite websites or number of users of a website), does not constitute personal data.

You should be aware that you may use our online services without revealing your identity. If you register for one of our personalised services, or apply for a job, we will ask you for your name and other personal details. You are entirely free to decide whether or not to supply this information.

6. Definition of purpose

We will only use personal data supplied by you to prepare products or services requested by yourself, for other purposes for which we have your agreement or if required by law.

Our staff and service providers are subject to an obligation of secrecy. We do not make data available to third parties, other than third party service providers.

7. Registering experts

If you register under “Login for Experts”, the data collected there will be used to provide the services you request. Data will be evaluated by Nycomed on an anonymous basis in order to identify patterns of user behaviour, optimise our services and compile statistics.

8. Career

If you use our career page to make an unsolicited job application, or to respond to a job advertisement, your data may be viewed by the personnel managers in charge of filling the vacancy/vacancies, and by personnel assistants. Your data will be used to process your job application. Your data will be saved for future vacancies, if you register in the candidate pool.

In case of support intentions administrators can see your data for a short time.

9. Security

We use technical measures to ensure the security of all archived data. The security of our systems is regularly reviewed to ensure ongoing protection against damage, loss and/or unauthorized access. Our security precautions are regularly updated and improved in line with technical developments.  Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot give an absolute assurance that the information you provide to us will be secure at all times. Nycomed will not be held responsible for events arising from unauthorised access to your personal information.

Please note also that Nycomed may use overseas facilities to process or back up its information.  You consent to the transfer by us of your personal information to our overseas facilities for storage.  However, this does not change any of our commitments to safeguard your privacy.

10. Access and Correction rights

You are entitled to inspect any personal data archived with us and to correct the personal data if you believe it to be out of date or incorrect. Simply send an e-mail to the e-mail address quoted below and we will amend the record. If you wish to have your personal information deleted, please let us know in the same manner as referred to above and we will take all reasonable steps to delete it unless we need to keep it for legal reasons.

11. Right until cancelled

You are entitled to withdraw your agreement to the use of your personal data at any time. Simply send an e-mail to the e-mail address quoted below.

12. Links to other Websites

We would like to point out that operators of websites which are accessed via links may store personal data, particularly by using cookies, as soon as you access their websites. We cannot accept any liability in the event of your data being collected, processed, used and/or forwarded to others.

13. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify/correct this Privacy Policy at any time. Visitors to our website are responsible for consulting this page on a regular basis to inform themselves of any amendments that may have been made.  The amended Privacy Policy will apply between us whether or not we have given you specific notice of any change.
